Reasons Why You Might Be Suffering from Halitosis
Halitosis is simply another way of referring to chronic bad breath. This condition is normally the result of an underlying oral health problem. If you believe that you suffer from halitosis, the best way to alleviate the symptoms is to identify what is causing your bad breath in the first place. Continue reading to find out more.

You Practice Poor Dental Hygiene
As food particles decay in your mouth, they can emit foul odors that lead to bad breath. The best way to remove food particles from your mouth is to regularly floss and brush your teeth. This will also help you eliminate bacteria that grow inside of your mouth. Without proper dental hygiene, these bacteria can cause you to develop gum disease and tooth decay, which can also contribute to bad breath.
You Have a Dry Mouth
Your body produces saliva, which helps to remove dead cells and bacteria from your mouth. One of the reasons why your halitosis may be worse in the morning is because you are sleeping with your mouth open. This causes the saliva in your mouth to evaporate and can make it difficult for your body to remove odor-causing particles. It is also possible to have dry mouth as a result of medication use or genetic predisposition. The best way to combat this problem is to keep your mouth as moist as possible by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
You Smoke Cigarettes
Using tobacco products can also cause your mouth to become dry and may lead to bad breath. In addition, it puts you at greater risk for developing gum disease, tooth decay, and oral cancer. If you develop tooth decay or gum disease, your bad breath may become more severe.
